Most European countries are set to miss the deadline for implementing the NIS2 cybersecurity regulation, which requires security auditing for essential services like hospitals and banks. The NIS2 Directive imposes cybersecurity obligations across critical sectors like finance, energy, and healthcare, and while it came into force the previous year, EU national parliaments have an upcoming deadline on October 17 to adopt it into national law. However, many countries are expected to miss this deadline, and instead plan to implement the regulation in the first half of the following year

Most EU nations to miss NIS2 deadline

Only six nations have managed to incorporate the NIS2 into national statute so far, while other countries like Ireland, Germany, and France are facing delays due to various reasons such as parliamentary debates, draft finalizations, and a lack of political consensus.
