Security experts revealed a significant 341% surge in malicious phishing links, business email compromise (BEC), QR code, and attachment-based threats in the last six months according to SlashNext's The State of Phishing 2024 report, with an 856% rise in malicious email and messaging threats over the past 12 months and a 4151% increase in malicious phishing messages since the introduction of ChatGPT in November 2022; the report also identified a 217% boost in credential harvesting phishing attacks, a 29% increase in BEC attacks, and a growing trend of CAPTCHA-based attacks using CloudFlare's CAPTCHAs, while cybercriminals exploit trusted services like Microsoft SharePoint, AWS, and Salesforce to conceal phishing and malware, and QR code-based attacks make up 11% of all malicious emails. ```
